What makes godly obedience different from the moralistic efforts?
As we explore the Book of James, we discover it offers us an important window into the particular qualities of Christian obedience and compassion.
Remember, we are under the authority of the Word of God because we are under the authority of the God who gave it. As followers of Christ, one way we show our submission to God is by our submission to His Word, not only by acknowledging its truthfulness, but by walking in obedience to the truth it teaches.
Becoming a “doer” of God’s Word
Being a doer starts in the home. It starts in the work place. It starts in the Church. It starts with relationships. It starts with the grumpy neighbor, disgruntled cashier, or the unpleasant driver on the road.
It starts here, with you! It begins with Love. Obedience to God and compassion for others start now.
If we think that we have to travel a distance to extend compassion or love in the name of Jesus Christ, we’re missing out on thousands of opportunities to love and obey that are right in front of us.
“Oh, that my actions would consistently reflect your decrees!”
