Hunting for Jesus

Meditation of the first week of August 2017

In the morning, while it was still very dark, he got up and went out to a deserted place, and there he prayed. And Simon and his companions hunted for him. When they found him, they said to him, ‘Everyone is searching for you.’ He answered, ‘Let us go on to the neighboring towns, so that I may proclaim the message there also; for that is what I came out to do.’ And he went throughout Galilee, proclaiming the message in their synagogues and casting out demons.” Mark 1:35-39

Do we rise early to pray? To discern the will of God for us this day? The disciples had to hunt for a while before they found Jesus praying. Perhaps we need to hunt for a while before we find our time with Jesus.

When we do, the blessing is that He will instruct us in our path. Jesus will guide our spiritual growth. Jesus will strengthen us.

Do we know friends, neighbors, and community members who are still hunting for Jesus? Let us proclaim His Message so they may find Jesus as well.

Lord Jesus, may we continue to hunt for you! Amen.
